Train Route

West coast, USA! The perfect place to study current advances in Energy technology and Production! Now armed with physics skills and knowledge, on Saturday morning this class will depart from Tacoma, Washington on a two week journey to investigate how energy can be harnessed. We will take the Amtrak Coast Starlight Train route (sometimes as sleeper-car guests!), making stops in Portland, OR, Albany, OR, Klamath Falls, OR and Van Nuys, CA. Energy sources include Hydroelectric (Bonneville Dam), Wind in Columbia River Gorge, Nuclear Power and Ocean Wave Energy (Reactor and Research hub at Oregon State University), Geothermal (Research and Facility at Oregon Institute of Technology, Klamath Falls) and Solar Panel use on Spacecraft (Dryden NASA facility). Also, we will study the geology of energy in the Angeles Forest in southern California. In this image, you can see our train route and which energy sources we will study where. What better way to seek answers to our burning questions?
