Day 1

What does a fish say when it runs into a 40ft thick wall of concrete? "Dam". That was the opening joke our friendly ranger guide made as we began our tour of the Bonneville dam on the Washington side. We were happy to learn that a vast majority of the fish make it through safely. We also learned much about dam construction and hydroelectricity, not just here in Washington, but in the United States. We were able to see how massive the turbines and electromagnets of a dam are; and we had the opertunity to see them in use. We learned all this, and much more. This is our first adventure in the world of energy, and the fire of curiosity has been lit inside of us all. We are eager to learn more about the resources our planet has to offer and how to best use these to our advantage while protecting the place we all call home.
